The Center Ark is LIVE!

The GamingNow Ark server rebuild has been completed and the new "The Center" map is now live!

The newly built server is completely fresh so everybody now connecting for the first time will be able to create a new character and begin their adventures anew. However, in order to play you must first install "The Center" map as a free Ark : Survival Evolved DLC. If you haven't already done this, you can download it direct from Steam OVER HERE.

Once installed you can connect to the new server just like you did before or by CLICKING HERE.

About The Center

The Center is a free add-on for ARK: Survival Evolved that includes a massive new map for survivors to explore, nearly double the size of the playable geography of the standard ARK Island landscape making it about 70 sq. kilometers. The Center complements the current ARK biomes with a rich, hand-drawn Tolkien-esque aesthetic. Filled with stunning lighting effects, lava rivers, giant picturesque mountains, misty floating islands, ancient underground ice caves, and more, the Center is free for anyone who already owns ARK: Survival Evolved.

Drawn completely by hand without any auto-generated content, the Center uses its own save data, with separate options to reset the save data for each individual map.

Some of the amazing things to discover on the map include:

  • Floating Island
  • Edge of the world/GIANT waterfalls
  • A vast underground world with its own ecosystem/sun (Large enough to build huge cities in)
  • Lava Biome
  • Large underwater air bubbles found deep in the ocean for building bases in
  • Massive Ancient Ruins scattered throughout the world
  • Challenging End-Game Boss Encounters with Special Rewards!
  • Unique level design with tons of verticality
  • Features all of the regular ARK biomes from "The Island"
  • Vast Ocean Systems
  • Giant Ice caverns with etched out ice ruins
  • Lava caverns
  • Several unique cave systems, both regular and underwater

Regarding configuration, as is typical we run our servers with a longer day / night cycle than default to make for a more immersive, roleplayey experience. We also have reduced item decay, lower food and water decay rates and spoil rates for eggs and poop increased three fold to make farming and kibble preparation more viable. These changes are made in order to balance out the experience with a longer day / night cycle.

In addition and new to this build we have introduced PVP decay for structures as well as a PVP log off protection timer.

Structures will now decay when no member of a tribe has visited the structures vicinity within a set period of time. The values are detailed below. Once a structure has hit it's decay limit, it becomes possible for anyone to demolish said structure using the radial menu.

Thatch = 4 days
Wood = 8 days
Stone = 12 days
Metal = 16 days

The PVP log off timer is a game mechanic introduced in patch 242 which makes a survivor and his tribal structures / pets invulnerable to damage 15 minutes after the last tribe member has logged off the server. This effectively means if you and your tribe log off for the night after 15 minutes nobody can raid you and take your stuff. However, for those initial 15 minutes you are vulnerable as normal. Any tribe member logging in will disable the invulnerability and the timer will be reset at the point they then log off.

The thinking behind this is to try and discourage offline raiding which was common in previous version of the server. We prefer to make PVP happen when there are people around to actively participate in it and we hope this will both encourage people to strap on a pair and do some proper raiding while discouraging defenders from combat logging due to the likelihood that a determined attacker will get in and out within that 15 minute grace period.

Please note, this may be adjusted during the course of the servers life depending on how players utilise these mechanics.

Striking out on your own is, of course, a perfectly valid play style but we would suggest grouping together and forming tribes. You can do this on the fly or visit our GRN Ark Server Recruitment Sub forum and see if you can find an existing one to hook up with or go whole hog and advertise your own!

Either way, we'd really like to see everyone on this exciting new world. It's all fresh smelling and brand new and well worthy of a good look if dinosaur mayhem is your thing.
